Manager, Parts & Ship Store

Department: Store
Location: Waukegan, IL

Reports to: General Manager

The Parts & Ship Store Manager’s role is to plan, direct, coordinate, and control all resources and activities in the Parts & Ship Store department.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  1. Work with the General Manager to implement procedures that improve sales and overall efficiency of the department
  2. Seek new suppliers to provide better pricing or service
  3. Purchase materials required for the Ship Store and Service department per company policy and work with the Parts & Service Coordinator to maintain a reasonable level of inventory for the service department and store sales
  4. Serve as a control point for ensuring execution follows defined policies, procedures, and “best practices” to enhance the creation of satisfied, loyal customers as well as efficient, profitable operations
  5. Assist technicians and Parts & Service Coordinator with purchasing needed supplies
  6. Work with the General Manager to resolve customer complaints and build loyal clientele
  7. Plan and initiate seasonal accessory specials and leader items for promotion of retail sales
  8. Arrange stock so it is organized, readily accessible, easily inventoried, and well-displayed, focusing on seasonal items as appropriate
  9. Project a positive company image at all times
  10. Ensure timely processing of invoicing and shipping of accessory orders
  11. Provide for emergency delivery of materials when necessary
  12. Be aware of price changes and update all accessories and parts with current prices
  13. Maintain price schedules and catalogs by updating changes immediately as received
  14. Secure internal and external removal of inventory through proper controls and procedures
  15. Arrange for proper handling of defective material. Prepare claim tags, and hold defective parts for disposition as per established warranty procedures
  16. Analyze Ship Store sales; inventory and revise as circumstances require to improve margins
  17. Run weekly sales reports for weekly departmental operations meetings
  18. Communicate and develop positive working relationships between Parts & Ship store personnel
  19. Establish and maintain cooperative relationships with other departments
  20. Assist the General Manager with interviewing department personnel
  21. Ensure all new Ship store employees are properly trained on d systems, procedures, and policies
  22. Seek training opportunities for managers and staff to improve operations, customer service, and profitability
  23. Maintain records of inbound/outbound shipping and ensure charges are billed out
  24. Review departmental activity with General Manager and make suggestions for improvement of department operations and sales
  25. Serve as a working manager
  26. Maintain local Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and Instruction Manual in current order; Ensure adherence to departmental and/or operations policies, procedures, and practices
  27. Manage employee disciplinary issues by documenting incidents and working with Human Resources to develop Performance Improvement Plans as necessary
  28. Manage employee schedules by reviewing and approving timesheets as well as PTO and Sick requests in ADP, ensuring proper scheduling of employees to meet the needs of the marina
  29. Notify Human Resources and submit appropriate documentation for Workers’ Compensation claims and OSHA incidents
  30. Perform such duties as assigned by Regional and Executive leadership

Minimum Qualifications and Requirements:

  1. Act with the highest level of integrity and maintain a positive attitude
  2. High school diploma or GED required
  3. 4-6 years in a parts or retail position preferred
  4. MOLO experience a plus
  5. Strong passion for providing excellent hospitality and customer service
  6. Professional conduct and excellent interpersonal and communication skills with team members, customers, tenants, vendors, and government personnel
  7. Strong work ethic and personal commitment
  8. Ability to work in a team environment
  9. Ability to be a self-starter and work independently
  10. Must have strong organizational skills and the ability to prioritize work
  11. Adaptable to a fast-paced environment
  12. Math computation skills
  13. Strong computer skills
  14. Proficient in Microsoft Office products including Outlook email, Word, and Excel
